We believe that in
order to help the whole man, we must educate them so that they may receive
the skills they need in order to compete for a good job once he has
completed the program. Staff and volunteers come together to share their
knowledge and skills in varied areas.

GED
Classes
In today's world, it
is no longer possible for a man to get a good job based on his desire to
work. He must have an education and without his GED, he will not get past
the stage of filling out the application.

 |
We have expanded our
Computer Class to handle twice as many students and hope to receive enough
donated
computers to expand the class to 25 per session. This training
prepares these men to take the tests required to become certified in this
field.

| We have had to move
our GED classes to larger spaces to make room for more students. We are
very excited about the number of clients that are taking advantage of our
educational program, knowing that it will give them a better edge in the
job market. |

Narcotics Anonymous Classes
Every Tuesday and
Thursday, a group called Restoration Ministries holds classes that deal
directly with our client's addictions to drugs and/or alcohol.
These are group and
individual counseling sessions that help direct these men to a path that
will begin their healing process.
They are led by
Rev. Joseph Holmes, who is also a member of our Advisory Board. Mr. John
Hutchins and Rev. Holmes have been holding these classes for over 8 years,
faithfully. One of the most basic problems with men who have addictions to
substances is to acknowledge that it is a problem. Even after loosing
everything they hold dear to them, some have a difficult time accepting
their addiction. These classes

On
The Job Training
Because we are a
Work Therapy Program, our clients work in a variety of areas that give
them on-the-job training such as sales skills in our thrift stores, phone
skills in our dispatcher office, landscaping skills working on the
grounds, computer repair, janitorial, wood working, furniture repair,
painting, building maintenance, automobile repair, warehouse foreman,
store managers, truck routing, delivery service, appliance repair,
...etc.
